AJCMods 3D Printed Fully Functional RC Parachute Kit for 1/10-1/5 RC Drag Cars & Speed Run Cars! After weeks of testing and prototyping we are proud to introduce our spring loaded, servo actuated, full function parachute kit in 6 different configurations to suit your ride. This parachute kit helps slow down your RC at the end of a high speed run. Designed to be used in conjunction with normal ESC/Motor braking and operates from a 3rd Channel TX/RX(NOT the stock 2 channel equipment). Conventional electronic braking heats up the motor quickly and can cause the car to become unstable and spin out - this parachute kit improves braking stability and helps slow down the car by introducing wind drag, and LOOKS GREAT doing it. A properly packed parachute will fully deploy in 0.5 seconds or less at speed as it is shot out from the spring loaded barrel and instantly starts to unravel and deploy. This parachute "barrel" is designed to mount on the rear of the body, and the actual parachute attachment varies depending on setup (see below)
Read Before Use:
Attaching The Parachute
Where you mount the parachute will vary depending on the make and model of your car, the add-ons, center of gravity, weight, body type, and track conditions. A general rule of thumb is you want the parachute line to be on the same level as the top of your tires when the parachute is pulled outward parallel to the ground. On the DR10 for example, this line is achieved by mounting the parachute just below the rear wing, using the center wing bolt and a zip tie as a securement point. Use the provided carabiners, clips, zip ties, and/or keychain ring to fine tune your mounting point.
Important info about the Parachute Choke
Adjusting the choke is very important! Use the provided red or black shrink wrap as the choke. The choke needs to be adjusted based on how you want the parachute to function; if you want to use the chute on nearly every run as an aid to slowing down, bring the choke along the strings to nearly the end of the parachute, leaving just 3-4" of string exposed before the parachute begins. This will allow the parachute to open more gradually resulting in a smoother transition of force to the car and more stable deceleration. For faster trap speeds simply bring the choke higher and higher, up to just 1" of exposed string before the parachute. If you want to use the parachute for emergency situations only, to avoid hitting obstacles such as a wall or a parked car, adjust the choke to about half way up the string - this will make the parachute deploy quicker and will stop the car faster, but may lead to a rollover or abrupt/disrupted stop.
Choosing the right size parachute for your car
As demonstrated by the data table below, the amount of wind resistance from the parachute will vary based on the size of the parachute. The 17" model is inexpensive but offers relatively little wind resistance and should be used on lightweight 1/10 scale cars or smaller 1/16 scale cars. The 24" model is by far our biggest seller and is a great choice for any 1/10 drag car or speed run car. The 30" model should only be used for 1/8 scale and larger models, as it produces significant drag when deployed and could disrupt a lighter weight 1/10 car.
